Blog 13 - The Charming Ladybug

The attraction of charm

a ladybug

Was the ladybug charming or spoilt?

One day while sweeping in her kitchen the ladybug came across 5 gold coins unsure of what to do with them she decided to seek the advice of her neighbor who suggested she use the coins to buy some cakes but the ladybug refused the idea because eating so many cakes would make her fat.

Unsatisfied she went to the next neighbor asking the same question this time the neighbor suggested she spend the coins on a beautiful new dress and some earrings to match that way she could sit by her window looking nice for any potential husband passing by.

The ladybug liked this idea and and went to immediately buy the dress and matching earrings. Once home she perched herself up at the window and began calling out "who wishes to marry me? I am a pretty ladybug with abundant wealth!".

A donkey happened to be passing by at he time and heard the ladybugs call he brayed to catch her attention and said "I wish to marry you!" but the ladybug refused his offer because she didn't like the sound of his voice.

The ladybug waited for the donkey to pass then called out again "who wishes to marry me? I am a pretty ladybug with abundant wealth!".

This time a dog barked to catch her attention and replayed "yes, I will marry you!" but again the ladybug rejected his offer when he told her he would eat anything including bones.

Once the dog passed the ladybug was still hopeful and called out again "who will marry me? I am a pretty ladybug with abundant wealth!".

A pig could be heard quickly oinking in excitement "me, me!" but he too was rejected because he stayed in a pig pen all day which the ladybug disliked.

Next came a confidant bull who mooed and claimed he was the best at bullfighting in hopes this would impress the ladybug but it did not and he was also rejected.

With that the ladybug called out one final time "who wishes to marry me? I am a pretty ladybug with abundant wealth!".

Just as she yelled a handsome rat walked by and said "I do miss ladybug for you are so beautiful and rich too!". The ladybug curiously asked "what do you like to eat?" and the handsome rat replied "well you see I have a sweet tooth and therefore I only dine on delicacies." The ladybug was impressed not only by his looks but also by his answers and so with that she accepted him to be her future husband.

The day of the wedding soon came around but on the way to the church the ladybug realized she had forgotten her bouquet of flowers and so she asked Mr. rat to return home and fetch them back and she would wait for him at the church.

Mr. rat agreed and returned home but upon entering there was a delicious smell floating through the house from the kitchen that he could not ignore and soon forget about the flowers. Entering the kitchen he went straight over to the source of the smell a large cooking pot in the hopes of tasting what was inside he reach inside but was unable to reach the simmering contents and so he leant in further but became stuck when the lid closed down on his head trapping him leaving him trapped and boiling along with the food.

Meanwhile back at the church the pretty ladybug was becoming impatient when Mr. rat failed to return. Storming back to the house to see what was taking him so long she but was met with an unsavory smell coming from the kitchen causing her to go and investigate further. When she arrived at the kitchen she screamed with shock before bursting into tears when she saw her husband to be hanging out of the cooking pot she cried out "oh how stupid of you to climb into a boiling pot of food!" and with that the pretty ladybug ended up alone once again.
